Matthew Crawford, DO, PhD, is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports injuries and provides care for a variety of conditions including arthritis (joint replacement), and fractures. He earned his medical degree at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and completed his residency at Michigan State University with a fellowship in sports medicine from Baylor College of Medicine. He enjoys practicing personal and compassionate care for a wide range of athletes and has notably served as an assistant team physician with several professional and college teams, including the Houston Texans, Houston Astros, University of Houston Cougars, and the Michigan State Spartans. Dr. Crawford has fellowship training in advanced arthroscopic treatments of sports injuries. Revision surgery of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), arthroscopic shoulder procedures (rotator cuff, SLAP, and labral repairs), cartilage restoration, partial/full knee replacement are areas of special interest. Dr. Crawford is highly published in orthopedic research publications and has co-authored a leading orthopedic textbook. His research projects have been awarded the prestigious Cabaud Award and Frank Stinchfield Award.
